More than 300 hotels and resorts are scheduled to open by the end of 2022. That's almost one opening a day for the Accor group.
Already the European leader and in the top 10 worldwide, the group aims to increase its global coverage with a dynamic as strong as that of 2021. It has announced 288 openings in 2021 for 41,000 rooms, which brings the net increase in rooms in 2021 to +3.2%, i.e. 158 properties and 24,241 additional rooms according to the Hospitality ON ranking as of 1 January 2022. The announced pipeline is filled with more than 1,200 properties or 214,000 rooms. These figures illustrate the dynamics of the hotel sector and the attractiveness of the French group's portfolio of brands. It enables it to offer hoteliers a wide range of solutions in line with the objectives, the DNA of the properties and their environment.
Agnès Roquefort, Global Chief Development Officer, underlines : “In 2021, we continued to reinforce our leadership position in the regions where we have historically led the competition, while building strong momentum in the key markets of North America and China. We are projecting an even higher pace of growth this year and are pleased to have resumed signing new hotels at a rate of one per day. We are extremely grateful to our development teams around the world who are doing a fantastic job of pushing projects forward, exceeding targets, and opening new doors – despite ongoing supplychain challenges, geo-political tensions, stringent health and safety regulations, and post-pandemic recoveries which continue at a varied pace.”
Following on from 2021, when the greet, ibis Styles, Mercure and Mövenpick brands accounted for 48% of rooms signed, Accor expects these brands to grow with MGallery Hotel Collection and Emblems Collection.
