The budget hotel chain Travelodge, with a strong presence in the UK and Ireland, announces the official inauguration of its sixth hotel in Spain, located in Coslada, Madrid. This expansion marks a significant milestone in Travelodge's strategic growth plans for the Spanish market, driven by increasing demand from both tourists and business travelers.

The newly unveiled Travelodge Madrid Coslada Aeropuerto, Madrid, has undergone a comprehensive €1 million refurbishment to align with Travelodge's latest premium standards. The 78-room hotel now features an on-site restaurant, bar, and parking facilities, making it an appealing choice for both leisure and corporate travelers. Its strategic location near prominent landmarks such as the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium, IFEMA Convention Center, and Madrid airport positions it as an ideal base for visitors.

Travelodge's strategic expansion in Spain is supported by extensive research. The findings reveal untapped potential in the Spanish budget and midscale hotel sector, with Economy and Midscale rooms comprising only 33% of the total room supply, compared to more mature markets such as France, the UK, and the USA.

Travelodge's robust track record, spanning nearly four decades in operating budget hotels, coupled with its strong brand presence, positions it as a key player in this expansion. Travelodge aims to solidify its presence in Spain and offer investors stable, long-term income opportunities.

As part of its ambitious growth plan, Travelodge has identified the top 20 key markets in Spain for future hotel openings. These markets are poised for sustained growth in both business and leisure visitor numbers but currently lack high-quality, affordable, branded accommodations. Primary current locations include Barcelona, Madrid, and Valencia, while primary new locations comprise Alicante, Bilbao, Cádiz, Malaga, Palma Mallorca, San Sebastián, and Seville. Secondary locations on Travelodge's radar include Benidorm, Córdoba, Gerona, Granada, Las Palmas De Gran Canaria, Santiago de Compostela, Santander, Tarragona, Valladolid, and Zaragoza.

Travelodge's Spanish operations are overseen by Angel Beleño, General Director, Spain, who brings over two decades of hospitality sector experience to the table, having previously worked with Melia Hotels International and Barceló Hotels and Resorts in Spain and Mexico.

Angel Beleño, Travelodge General Director, Spain, stated, "Spain is the fourth most visited country in the world, and its tourism industry is a significant driver of the Spanish economy. This presents exciting opportunities for the Midscale and Economy hotel sector, and we are eager to introduce the Travelodge brand to new business and leisure destinations across Spain. With our extensive experience, strong brand, and proven lease model, we can contribute to the growth of this sector, offering investors and landlords a reliable long-term income stream and providing travelers with more options for great value accommodation."
