Marick Real Estate has announced the construction of the Wilde Aparthotels at 38-40 George Street, with completion scheduled for the end of 2027. This new establishment, managed by the Staycity Group, will feature 145 rooms and a 400-square-meter community space managed by Makespace Oxford.
The redevelopment project will replace the existing former cinema with a modern, energy-efficient building that meets the growing demand for quality accommodations in Oxford. The Wilde brand, inspired by the Irish playwright and poet Oscar Wilde, opened its first establishment in Covent Garden, London, in 2017. The choice of Oxford for a new aparthotel is relevant, as Wilde studied there.
“The opening of a Wilde in the city of Oxford, particularly in the Gloucester Green area, which is close to shops, restaurants, bars, and theatres, will address the need for additional overnight accommodation in the city.” - Simon Walford, development director for Staycity Group in the UK
The Wilde Aparthotel aims to offer a modern hospitality experience tailored to business and leisure travelers while supporting community engagement through its dedicated space. This development is expected to enhance the accommodation offerings in the city and contribute to the revitalization of George Street, thereby making it an attractive destination for visitors and residents alike.
