Silken Hoteles plans to open five new hotels during 2023 in the Iberian Peninsula and is also thinking about internationalisation by establishing the brand in cities such as Porto or Paris.
Silken Hoteles has announced the addition of the Hotel Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz to its portfolio, which has been acquired by the Bhagvaji family from Saaj Hotels. This will be the third asset managed by the family and one of five properties they plan to open this year.
The hotel in question has been closed for almost two decades and Silken will manage and market it. It is a 138-room, four-star hotel that joins two other properties in the family already managed by the chain, namely the four-star, adults-only Silken Saaj Maar and the Silken Saaj Las Palmas.
In addition, the Hotel Puerta de Irati in Ochagavía, Navarra, a 36-room boutique hotel, is due to open next February, while at Easter it will be the turn of Silken Platja d'Aro, in the heart of the Costa Brava, a 111-room hotel five minutes from the beach.
Silken also anticipates the forthcoming opening of Silken Spa La Hacienda de Don Juan in Llanes, a 32-room 4-star hotel, and the Maravilla de Estepona, a 34-room 5-star hotel.
They [Saaj Hotels] are delighted with the way we look after their assets and the profitability they are achieving. They want to move forward in the hotel business, we are very comfortable with them, so it is normal and logical that over time we end up with more hotels in this relationship.
Javier Villanueva, General Manager, Silken Hoteles
For its expansion, Silken Hoteles is focusing on cities with more than 100,000 rooms and also aims to strengthen its presence in the south of Spain, where it is not yet present. The chain is targeting the Balearic Islands in particular.
