The Wyndham Group plans to open a new office in Athens in July, which will oversee all hotel activities in Greece, Cyprus, the Balkans, Italy and CIS countries (excluding Russia).
In total, this office is expected to manage more than 120 hotels in the region, according to Wyndham Hotels & Resorts EMEA President Dimitris Manikis.
To date, the hotel franchise company Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has some 9,100 hotels in over 95 countries. Ninety-eight percent of the hotels are operated as franchises. The group plans to add 25 hotels in Greece by 2025, joining the other hotels in the Greek portfolio, which include the Ramada and the Dolce on the Attiki Riviera, the TRYP in Corfu, the Wyndham Grand Crete Mirabello Bay in Lasithi, the Lazart in Thessaloniki, the Ramada in Alexandroupolis, three hotels in Loutraki and the Wyndham Grand Athens, the Wyndham Athens Residence and the Athens Key Hotel in the capital.
"Greece is a strategically important market for Wyndham. The time is right for Wyndham to move from opening urban hotels in Greece to investing in resorts in Greece's mountainous regions." - Dimitris Manikis, President of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts EMEA region
As a strategic move, Wyndham intends to extend its partnership with Zeus International to other countries, in various destinations in South-East Europe such as Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and Northern Macedonia. According to Zeus International CEO Haris Siganos, the two companies are considering the acquisition of entire portfolios in Europe.
"This development will mark the expansion of the company's brands in Greece" - Dimitris Manikis, President of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in EMEA.
Zeus International, the specialist hotel management company, has a portfolio of 18 hotels in Greece, including 12 under the Wyndham brand. In particular, it owns and operates the first hotel in the Wyndham Registry Collection in Europe, the Ajul, which opened in June and will be completed over the next two years at a total investment of 120 million euros.
"Ajul is designed for the future, adapted to customers' new needs for privacy and socialization at the same time."
"Wyndham aims to develop more luxury brands and its collaboration with Zeus marks a new strategy."
