The Indian luxury hotel group Oberoi Hotels & Resorts will be opening its first property in London, in the Mayfair district. This hotel is part of the South Molton development, a mixed-use project led by the developer Grosvenor.
The hotel will be located at 40-46 Brook Street, close to Bond Street station. Construction began in November 2023, with the entire project scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. The development includes not only the hotel but also offices, residences, cafes, shops, restaurants, along with community and leisure spaces.
This project is expected to make a significant economic impact, generating an estimated £6.5 million in annual spending for South Molton. Around 1,000 permanent jobs are expected to be created once the hotel is completed, in addition to 450 jobs and apprenticeships during the construction phase.
"The arrival of Oberoi within the South Molton project, at the heart of Mayfair, aligns with our vision of creating a destination of international significance. We’re pleased to welcome this partnership at this stage of the development." — Rachel Dickie, Executive Director of Investment and Development at Grosvenor
The project also includes a partnership between Grosvenor and Mitsui Fudosan UK to build two office buildings on Brook Street and Davies Street, offering headquarters spaces in one of the West End’s most sought-after districts.
"This project marks a significant milestone in our international expansion. The Oberoi, Mayfair, will offer a luxurious experience in an intimate setting in the heart of Mayfair, right at the center of London’s vibrant energy." — Vikram Oberoi, Managing Director and CEO of the Oberoi Group
