The new Yggotel Solsort opened its doors in Essen on 8 March. The property, which is operated by Novum Hospitality, is a renovation of the former Novum Hotel Arosa.
Located in the trendy district of Rüttenscheid, the Yggotel features 88 rooms spread over six floors and decorated in Scandinavian style. In addition, the hotel has a special feature in that one of the rooms is decorated in the "Rolling Stones" style as a tribute to the English rock band around frontman Mick Jagger, who once stayed at the hotel.
The restaurant is even more Scandinavian with typical local dishes served all day. In addition, a shop selling regional products completes the offer. In the lobby, birdhouses designed with natural materials also await guests.
The brand name Yggotel is composed of "Hygge + Eco + Hotel", pronounced Ü-ggotel in reference to Hygge, a word of Danish and Norwegian origin referring to a sense of well-being, a cheerful mood and a warm, intimate atmosphere.
Sustainability and future-oriented expansion are central to Novum Hospitality. With this project, we were not only able to revitalise another existing building in our portfolio through rebranding, but also to enhance its value in the long term. By differentiating ourselves from our young urban lifestyle brand the niu, we are responding with Yggotel to today's customer demands by creating warm wellness places with a Nordic feel.

In Essen, Novum Hospitality also operates the niu Cobbles as well as the Select Hotel Handelshof and the Novum Hotel Ambassador. As part of the expansion strategy, four more Yggotel hotels are scheduled to open by the end of 2027 in Hamburg, Essen and Mannheim. In the long term, Novum Hospitality also aims to establish the Yggotel brand in other European countries.
