Marriott International keeps expanding its footprint

To open 1,700 hotels by 2021, the American giant needs to develop in many destinations. Growth by more than 50% by 2023 announced today in Mexico.

Marriott signed deals in Mexico for 15 hotels with more than 2,300 rooms among 36 deals in the whole Caribbean and Latin America territory. The transaction includes the first EDITION contract for the Caribbean and Latin America. Marriott’s total Mexico pipeline now features nearly 50 properties consisting of 8,000 rooms across the country – from Mexicali to Cancun, including key gateway cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey and resort markets such as Cancun, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta. As of December 31, 2018 Marriott had 85 open properties in Mexico, representing about 34% of its 249 properties (among 6,817 worldwide) across 21 brands in the Caribbean and Latin American region. Let's not forget that Latin America is not the strongest pipeline for the group: it is Asia.

Worldwide pipeline recently announced by the group is 478,000 rooms of which 214,000 are already under construction (1,295,182 rooms open as of January 1, 2019).

In the Latin American destination, Marriott is to open two iconic destinations on its luxury portfolio. Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Riviera Nayarit 110 rooms in Costa Canuva and Riviera Maya Mexico EDITION in Kanai in Mexico’s tropical Riviera Maya resort destination.
