JO&JOE brand to conquere the Chinese market

Ennismore in collaboration with Accor announced an unprecedented long-term master franchise agreement with Country Garden’s core alliance enterprise, Funyard Hotels and Resorts to open more than 1,000 JO&JOE hotels in China.

In collaboration with Funyard, one of China's leading hotel operators and property developers, Accor and Ennismore will bring the JO&JOE lifestyle brand to mainland China with the opening of at least 1,300 hostels across the country, representing more than 100,000 guestrooms. Funyard will be the exclusive strategic partner of the JO&JOE brand in mainland China.

Funyard strongly believe in the growth potential of the lifestyle hospitality and through this partnership, the company is determined to become a key actor in this field. Funyard is notably aware of the desire of young people to travel and meet each other, and JO&JOE brand meets this need.

What better way to celebrate Funyard's second anniversary than to work with Accor and Ennismore to bring the JO&JOE experience to China. We share the same values, mindset and commitment to delivering unique experiences. We also have many synergies to explore, especially between Accor's expertise and international distribution network and our extensive property portfolio. Together, we look forward to making JO&JOE the benchmark for affordable hotels in China.

Zhang Yong, Executive Chairman of Funyard Hotels & Resorts

JO&JOE offers affordable and quality properties with trendy conviviality areas, an attractive range of restaurants and shared living spaces. The brand offers a real lifestyle experience through a mix of street art, music, and food. The accent is also put on sustainable development, a factor of great importance for the young generations.

This partnership between Accor and Country Garden is not the first one. The two groups have been working together for several years on hospitality projects for high-end brands, and have developed close ties over time. Through this new agreement around JO&JOE, Accor, Ennismore and Funyard will bring a new dimension to the Chinese hotel industry.

In association with Ennismore and Funyard, the partnership division of the Country Garden Group, Accor will roll out a new kind of travel experience in non-standard, inspiring and environmentally friendly hotels that will welcome both visitors and locals to the destinations. The different characters, ideas and talents will blend together to express the soul of the JO&JOE brand. Accor is already experiencing record growth in Greater China. This newly formed partnership with Funyard will add a new dimension to our leadership in lifestyle hotels. We are delighted to join forces with Funyard, which already has a strong presence in this market.

Gary Rosen, Managing Director, Accor Greater China

Accor Greater China recently passed the 500 hotel milestone, with a strong pipeline of openings planned for 2022 and beyond. The first JO&JOE locations in mainland China will be unveiled this year. JO&JOE currently operates properties in France, Austria, Colombia and Brazil.

JO&JOE is part of Ennismore, a global collective of lifestyle brands. In 2021, Accor and Ennismore entered a joint-venture to create a new autonomous entity, with Accor holding a majority shareholding.

Around the world, the lifestyle segment is attracting a lot of interest and has a strong growth trajectory. We continue to strengthen our positions in this segment, developing concepts that incorporate entertainment and offer restaurants and bars that appeal to locals and travellers alike. Our lifestyle brands are in direct contact with the communities that host them. At JO&JOE, which combines food, music and street art, everything is designed to make each destination unique and as welcoming as possible for a new generation of travellers.
