The future Crowne Plaza Podgorica will be located within the Capital Plaza, a multifunctional complex that already houses companies like PwC and the World Bank. The hotel will offer 122 rooms and a range of amenities, including a restaurant, meeting spaces, a bar, and a lounge.

This new hotel will join the planned Crowne Plaza Kolasin, a 93-room property set to open in the second half of 2025. Both developments align with IHG's broader expansion strategy, which aims to establish a network of 100 Crowne Plaza hotels in Europe by the end of 2025.

IHG’s Vice President of Development for Europe, Willemijn Geels, highlighted the significance of this project for IHG’s growth plans in Montenegro and Eastern Europe. “Signing the Crowne Plaza Podgorica is a key moment as we continue expanding our footprint in the Balkans,” she said, emphasizing the increasing demand for hotel conversions under IHG brands across Europe. The IHG One Rewards loyalty program is among the group’s key assets for attracting and retaining customers.

Partnership with BIG CEE and the Transformation of Montenegro’s Capital

BIG CEE CEO Lev Weiss, owner of Capital Plaza, expressed satisfaction with the partnership. Since acquiring the property in 2023, BIG CEE has invested in service improvements and enhanced Capital Plaza’s offerings to make it a premier economic and tourist destination in Podgorica. The addition of Crowne Plaza is expected to further this vision, enhancing the capital’s appeal to both local and international guests.
