Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced plans for a 30% growth in its UK portfolio by 2026. This expansion, starting with the recent openings of Hyatt Place Leeds and Hyatt House Leeds, reflects the company's commitment to increasing its footprint in the region. Soon, two new hotels in London will open their doors.

Expansion strategy and recent openings

In early March 2025, Hyatt introduced two new properties in Leeds, marking the beginning of its UK expansion plan. The Hyatt Place Leeds (217 rooms) and Hyatt House Leeds (88 rooms) offer a mix of short-term stays and extended accommodations.

The development caters to both business and leisure guests with modern amenities like fitness centers, meeting spaces, and dining options. The Hyatt Place brand focuses on convenience for multi-tasking travelers, while Hyatt House provides longer-term stays with apartment-style living, including kitchenettes and separate living areas.

Upcoming projects and job creation

As part of its strategy to add more than 1,000 rooms across the UK by 2026, Hyatt will soon open additional properties such as Hyatt Place London Paddington and Hyatt Regency London Olympia.

These openings are expected to generate around 250 new jobs across the country. The Hyatt Place London Paddington will offer 87 rooms designed for modern travelers, while the Hyatt Regency London Olympia will feature over 200 rooms within a historic Art Deco building.

Hyatt’s UK growth drivers

Hyatt’s UK growth is supported by several factors, including the acquisition of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2023, which has expanded Hyatt’s portfolio of boutique and luxury properties. This acquisition has also boosted World of Hyatt membership, which reached 54 million global members by the end of 2024.

Additionally, business travel has seen an uptick, with Hyatt’s MICE inquiries increasing by 5% in Q4 2024, highlighting the demand for business accommodations in the UK.

"The UK remains a priority growth market for Hyatt. We are committed to expanding our portfolio of brands in locations that matter most to our guests, members, customers, and owners and I have no doubt the UK will continue to be a strong contributor to Hyatt’s growth journey in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East." - Anna Corkill, Regional Vice President of Development for the UK & Ireland at Hyatt

Future focus on key cities

Hyatt’s expansion will focus on key cities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Liverpool, Glasgow, Cardiff, and Belfast. The company aims to strategically increase its presence in high-demand locations, ensuring a steady and sustainable growth trajectory across the UK.

This expansion underscores the importance of the UK market to Hyatt’s long-term growth, enhancing the brand's reach and meeting the increasing demand for quality accommodations in both business and leisure segments.
