Holiday Inn Express & Suites has expanded its presence in Switzerland with the opening of Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sion. This new hotel, developed in partnership with Cycas Hospitality, marks the debut of the brand in Switzerland and is part of a major urban development project in the region.
A key opening in a new market
Located in Sion, the capital of the Valais region, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sion is strategically positioned within the Cour de Gare project. This large urban development will offer 5,700 square meters of retail space, offices, apartments, and a concert & conference center, providing a significant boost to the area.
As one of Switzerland’s oldest cities, Sion combines a rich history with a modern cultural scene. The hotel is situated within the popular 4 Vallées alpine ski region, which includes destinations like Verbier, Bruson, and La Tzoumaz, making it an ideal choice for snow sports enthusiasts, as well as business travelers and event attendees.
“We’re incredibly pleased to bring this landmark development to Sion, a city rich in history and charm. Our vision is to create an exceptional destination where guests can experience warm Swiss hospitality, world-class service, and the breathtaking beauty of the Valais region.” - Cyril Dederding, General Manager at Holiday Inn Express and Suites Sion
Hotel features and facilities
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sion features 122 rooms, including 16 suites with kitchenettes, catering to both short-term visitors and longer stays. The hotel also offers a lobby bar & lounge on the ground floor, as well as a meeting room suitable for private events and conferences.
“The opening of Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sion represents an important milestone for us, and we are proud to further our partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts across Europe, bringing our expertise in hospitality management to this fantastic location in the Swiss Alps." - Craig Patterson, Chief Development Officer at Cycas Hospitality
Commitment to sustainability
The hotel places a strong emphasis on environmentally-friendly building practices. Certified by Minergie, it is designed to meet Switzerland’s sustainability strategies with energy-efficient systems, waste reduction, and a focus on using sustainable energy.
The hotel also partners with local suppliers to enhance its eco-conscious initiatives.
This new addition is also a significant step in Cycas Hospitality's development plans, marking their second Holiday Inn Express & Suites property after the opening in Deventer in 2022.
