Club Med returns to Spain after a 20-year absence with the opening of the Club Med Magna Marbella resort, which was once the iconic Don Miguel luxury hotel.
Club Med Magna Marbella will open its doors on 20 May 2022 after the complete renovation of the Don Miguel Hotel. The new resort is the result of a collaboration agreement between Club Med and Magna Hotels and Resorts.
The renovation and restructuring work, financed by Magna Hotels and Resorts, involved some 20 companies, 80% of which were Spanish, and some 500 workers. After two years of work, and a delay in the opening due to the pandemic, Club Med Magna Marbella will open its doors next week, with Pierre-Jean Montagné as "Chef de Village" (Resort Manager).
Magna Marbella will be located less than ten minutes from Venus and La Fontanilla beaches, the marina and the town centre, surrounded by golf courses, La Cañada shopping centre and the Starlite Auditorium.
The new Club Med will have around 500 rooms, 14 hectares of gardens, five swimming pools - including a family play area with water games and an adults-only Zen zone - two 24-hour restaurants and three themed bars offering local food and drink. It will also offer 'Made in Club Med' kids' clubs for children aged 4 months to 17 years, featuring Andalusian-inspired arts and cultural activities. It will also have 15 meeting rooms and a large hall for conferences and receptions.
In addition, it will have ten tennis courts and six paddle tennis courts within the grounds, with their respective schools and a team of teachers and monitors. A wellness area will also be available to guests with fourteen treatment rooms, including a double indoor-outdoor relaxation room and a hammam, as well as spa treatments.
Marc Hertrich and Nicolas Adnet, from the MHNA studio, were responsible for the design and interior decoration of Club Med Magna Marbella.
As part of its "Happy to Care" CSR programme, Club Med is aiming to achieve Green Globe certification for the day-to-day management of the resort. Club Med Magna Marbella is equipped with solar panels to provide energy for water heating and a rainwater collection and treatment system, which will be used for garden irrigation.
We are proud to return to Andalusia, one of Europe's most attractive tourist destinations, with a new Premium Resort, Club Med Magna Marbella, which perfectly illustrates what Club Med has become today after the great changes of the last 20 years, a premium, glocal, happy digital "brand" whose main objective is to develop the most sustainable tourism possible.
Henri Giscad d'Estaing, President of Club Med
