Royal Hideaway Canfranc Estación

From March, fans of trains and stations will be able to stay at the Royal Hideaway Hotel Canfranc Estación, an almost century-old station located in the mountainous region of northern Spain, Aragon, renovated and operated by Barceló Hotel Group.

Inaugurated by Alfonso XIII in 1928 and declared a Site of Cultural Interest, the Canfranc station will no longer be used by trains but by customers in the next few weeks. Barceló will manage it, but the property belongs to the government of Aragon, which has invested a total of 15.3 million euros in the rehabilitation of the building since 2016.

The group stresses that it aspires to make the Royal Hideaway Canfranc Estación a five-star property of reference, both nationally and internationally, and that it "will be an important point of attraction for luxury tourism in the region".

The hotel will have 104 rooms, including four luxury suites, on the first and second floors. The F&B offer, which will be managed by Eduardo Salanova and Ana Acín, the hotel's gastronomic directors, includes three restaurants and two bars. The restaurants will be installed in two carriages that have been renovated in the classic style of 20th century trains.

The reception, open to the general public, will be located in the historic hall of the station and the ground floor will also include a wellness area with a heated pool and a library.

The interior design studio Ilmiodesign has been commissioned to design the hotel's interior. It was inspired by the aesthetics of the old railway stations and luxury long-distance trains of the early 20th century, but with a contemporary twist.
