With the group since 2015 at the helm of Anantara establishments in Thailand, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, he will now be responsible for the strategic and commercial direction of Minor Hotels' luxury brands in Europe.
He will support the growth and development of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, which currently has eight properties, and Tivoli Hotels & Resorts across Europe as part of the Group's expansion across the continent. He will be responsible for the following three areas of improvement: customer experience and operational excellence.
He will work closely with the Anantara brand's general managers, operational teams and corporate support functions to ensure that the highest standards of service, quality and brand consistency are maintained across all properties.
Prior to this promotion, he spent nearly 5 years in the Maldives, first as general manager of Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas, then as cluster general manager for Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli and Naladhu Private Islands, while overseeing Anantara Kihavah and the pre-opening of Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort.
Prior to this, he spent 19 years with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, initially at hotels in London and Scotland, before moving into an F&B role at the company's Europe, Africa and Middle East headquarters for five years. He then returned to operations in Greece. In 2011, he became hotel director for the pre-opening of the St. Regis Bangkok in Thailand and then general manager of the Keraton at the Plaza, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in Jakarta, before returning to Thailand in 2015 as general manager for Minor Hotels with Anantara.
A British national, Giles Selves holds a BA and MBA and currently resides in Madrid, Spain. He has 25 years' experience in the hotel industry, achieving outstanding results in a variety of operational roles. He therefore takes on his new role with leadership and business strategy skills, and an ability to foster a positive, collaborative culture in every environment.
