With Marriott since its acquisition of Starwood Hotels in September 2016, Brian Povinelli will now be responsible for the company's overall marketing strategy as well as the end-to-end customer experience for Marriott's 22 Premium, Select & Longer-stay brands.
In his expanded role, he will continue to work at Marriott International's headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. He will be responsible for overseeing brand management to increase guest preference for the company's portfolio of premium, select service and longer stay brands. He will lead a wide range of teams, including content marketing, loyalty marketing, portfolio marketing, goal-based marketing, demand generation marketing in the U.S. and Canada, marketing partnerships, Premium & Select Service brand marketing and brand management, and Riott Haus, Marriott's in-house creative agency.
After graduating from James Madison University with a BBA in Marketing, he spent seven years in senior advertising and marketing roles at Reebok, after starting his career in advertising agencies in the US and London.
He then joined Starwood Hotels, responsible for the repositioning and growth of the Westin, Sheraton and Le Meridien brands, which are now part of the 31 Marriott brands.
Today, Brian Povinelli has been with Marriott for seven years, starting as senior vice president, Distinctive Premium Brand Group and serving as senior vice president of global brand, portfolio and loyalty marketing at Marriott for the past two and a half years.
