Arash Azarbarzin has been appointed Chief Executive Officer at SH Hotels & Resorts in New York, a subsidiary of Starwood Capital Group. He succeeds Barry Sternlicht, President and Chief Executive Officer of Starwood Capital, who will remain President and continue to be involved in the organization.
Mr. Azarbarzin holds a degree in hotel management from the United States International University and is a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. He has more than 30 years of industry experience as an executive of St. Regis Hotels, W Hotels and Four Seasons Hotels and as founder and president of the sbe Hotel Group for 12 years.
He oversees all operations and expansion of SH Hotels & Resorts, which operates the 1 Hotels, five-star Baccarat and the new Treehouse Hotels brand. In particular, he contributed to the brand's mission to apply sustainable practices and offset the carbon footprint.
His mission is to lead international expansion in cities such as Paris, London, Saudi Arabia, Copenhagen, Manchester and Toronto as well as national expansion in San Francisco, Miami, Nashville and Kauai.
