Penta Hotels has appointed Rogier Braakman as Managing Director. He succeeds Eugène Staal, who has served as President for over two years.
Rogier Braakman took office on February 1, 2020. He began his career in a number of management positions at Ritz-Carlton, Hilton Hotels and Landal GreenParks. He then embarked on a 12-year entrepreneurial journey, creating Sandton Hotels and Pillows Hotels.
Since the summer of 2018, Rogier Braakman has been advising and investing in several technology start-ups through his private equity platform NoCeiling, which he co-founded.
He takes the helm of Penta Hotels during a difficult period for the industry and says of the Covid-19 epidemic: "The forced suspension of its activities for an indefinite period is the greatest burden imaginable for any business owner. Since opening, our hotels have remained open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have not had to close a single day. However, instead of carrying out our original plans, we have worked continuously to temporarily suspend operations in many hotels, restructure our processes and demand intense sacrifices from all our team members and stakeholders. Despite all this, we have worked hard to bring new innovations and product improvements to all hotels."
