[Appointment] IATA appoints Muhammad Albakri as Senior Vice President

Following the appointment announced by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), effective 1 March 2021, Muhammad Albakri, IATA Regional Vice President for Africa and the Middle East (AME) will succeed Aleks Popovich who currently holds the position of Senior Vice President for Customer, Financial and Digital Services (CFDS) based in Geneva.

In January 2017, Muhammad Albakri joined IATA after 10 years at the head of Saudi Arabian Airlines. He has successfully held the positions of Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Transformation.

Within IATA, he has been a pioneer of change, transforming the Africa and Middle East regional team to better meet the needs of members and pioneering the work of the IATA Digital Transformation Advisory Council.
