Meliá Hotels International has made changes to its management team. Sonia Jerez Burdeus, recently appointed Chief Financial Officer, has stepped down for personal reasons. To replace her, the group has appointed Ángel Luis Rodríguez Mendizábal, currently vice-president of joint ventures and portfolio management in the real estate sector. Mr. Rodríguez brings a wealth of experience both within the company and in the hotel sector.
Ángel Luis Rodríguez has been with Meliá since 2004, and has held a number of financial management and project development positions in national and international hotel companies. His appointment was approved by the Nominations, Remuneration and Sustainable Development Committee of the company's Board of Directors.
In addition, as part of the company's strategy, which focuses on digital transformation, Meliá Hotels will consolidate its Information Technology (IT) department, previously under the Finance area, with the Digitalization department, part of the Strategy area. Both departments will now report to the Director of Strategy, Carlos González.
"The appointment of Àngel Luis Rodríguez as the new CFO brings the combination of the company's culture and values and the complete knowledge of the business and its financial needs, not only of the group but also of the reference partners integrated in the various existing joint ventures; he also brings great expertise in the real estate market and mastery of all aspects of the business and corporate, and in addition has great recognition in the market and an excellent reputation in the financial and real estate spheres. We are therefore grateful to Sonia Jerez for being part of our management team, and we are delighted to welcome the company's new CFO." - Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, President and CEO of Meliá
