The company has appointed outgoing American Express CEO to its Board.
Airbnb announced that the outgoing American Express CEO, Kenneth Chenault, will join its board of directors. By this initiative, Airbnb adds its first independent director to the board.
In a statement, Chenault declared: “I’ve been inspired by the way Airbnb has turned a simple, yet powerful idea – opening the doors to strangers – into a global movement that has brought millions of people together and I am looking forward to working with Brian [Airbnb’s CEO] and the entire Airbnb team as they build for the future."
This nomination follows Brian Chesky’s vision to transform Airbnb “into a 21st-century company”. It plans to improve its service, to eventually develop a loyalty program and to commit to an eventual initial public offering.
