"Breaking codes," the adventure of Mama Shelter, by Serge Trigano #TIF17

Serge Trigano, symbol of hospitality and pioneer of the current wave of new "lifestyle", "boutique" and "hybrid" accommodation concepts with Mama Shelter, will be the Keynote Speaker at TourInvest Forum 2017, that will take place on November 8, 2017 at the InterContinental Paris le Grand.

Serge Trigano was born in 1946 and worked for many years at Club Méditerranée before taking over the reins in 1993. At the end of the 1990s, he created the Trigano group holding company, which brings together the accommodations, travel agency and event management activities of the companies Serge Trigano & Sons, Altour and Town and Shelter.

In the early 2000s he founded the Mama Shelter concept with the unfailing support of his family and two friends Cyril Aouizerate and designer Philippe Starck. The first unit opened in Paris in 2008. A decade later, with several establishments already opened in well-known French and international destinations (Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Rio de Janeiro, Los Angeles) and numerous projects underway, Mama Shelter developed without neglecting its original manifesto:

"What we create in relation to the Other at Mama Shelter is precisely what is common to humans, and not the social, economic and cultural divisions that are so violent to live with on a daily basis.

We create a shelter, a protective shelter that instead of shutting people up away from a fantasized exterior allows them to free themselves from ideological fetters, to think of their new life, to live in Paris in its urban and cosmopolitan juices. Mama Shelter is like "jean", that "hyper-democratic" fabric that has been breaking social prejudice on appearances for decades."

During his speech at TourInvest Forum, under the theme "Breaking codes," the adventure of Mama Shelter, Serge Trigano will explore:

  • the adventure of Mama Shelter, "troublemaker" of the hotel industry, and the role of those that helped create it,
  • the keys to the success of this concept, the pitfalls to avoid when venturing onto this market,
  • the future that is being shaped for these new concepts, and forthcoming developments.
