
Arrivals in the country are already higher in the first 12 months than the entire year 2013, with close to 62 million tourists.
Britons represented the first supply market to the country with 14.39 million tourists during the period, ahead of French tourists (10 millions) and 9.95 million Germans. Nordic countries (4.69 million) and Italy (3.5 million) are also important markets for the destination.
Arrivals in the country naturally had considerable impact on business in the hotel sector, which saw its occupancy rate grow by 3.4% from January to November 2014, according to data published by MKG Hospitality. Properties were thus able to make their average daily rates progress by 2.5% for 7.8% growth in their Revenue per available room (RevPAR) on the first 11 months of the year. Generally speaking, 2014 was a year of recovery for Spanish hotels, which, together with southern Europeans, played a key role in continental growth.
