Marriott's Autograph Collection Hotels announced four new properties to its portfolio, including this unconventional address in Breda, near the Belgian border.
The Hotel Nassau Breda opened last month in the southern Dutch city, midway between Amsterdam and Brussels. The property was converted from historical buildings in the city center, including a convent and a Neo-Gothic chapel whose structure and arches were kept intact. It should therefore come as no surprise that the hotel's signature is "Nothing to Confess". The address offers 95 rooms including a panoramic suite on the sixth floor, as well as a restaurant, several meeting rooms and a fitness center.
Marriott International's acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts was certainly last years' most significant operation in the hospitality industry. Ranked 3rd and 7th hotel groups before the merger in terms of number of rooms according to data published by MKG Consulting, the new group takes the lead in worldwide rankings, representing more than a million rooms - including 800,000 units in the upscale segment alone.
