Lionel Messi acquires the Himalaia Hotel in Baqueira Beret

Since 2017, the hotel chain MIM Hotels, owned by Lionel Messi, is operated by Majestic Hotel Group (owner of the Majestic Hotel & Spa in Barcelona). The Himalaia Hotel completes the chain’s portfolio and represents its fourth hotel acquisition.

In fact, the hotel group already owns three hotel complexes, in well-known seaside resort of Spain : Sitges, Ibiza and Mallorca. With the acquisition of the Himalaia Hotel, the group has the voluntee to diversify its offer to winter leisure tourism.

The four-star superior hotel of 141 rooms has a prime location, in Baqueira Beret ski resort, at the bottom of ski slopes and close to the gondola lift. Bedrooms offer a unique view on the Arán Valley. Furthermore, the hotel targets different clientele mix and is fully equipped with a spa, a swimming pool, a fitness center, meeting rooms, children facilities and mountains guide services. A car park and a gastronomic offer related to the hotel category are also available inside the property.

The hotel was operated by Pierre & Vacances Premium.

The hotel’s reopening under the MIM brand is scheduled for the winter season 2020-2021. Before then, refurbishments of the bathrooms, for instance, are planned in order to satisfy the chain quality standards. Moreover, as all the other hotels of the group, the hotel will ensure to have the LEED label.

Baqueira Beret ski resort is located in the Spanish Pyrenees, in the Lleida province. During the 2018-2019 season, the ski resort has welcomed more than 870 000 skier days. The skiing area represents 167 kilometers.
