London 2012 organisers have 200,000 more tickets to shift, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
The newspaper says the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) is ‘preparing to flood’ its ticketing website with unsold tickets that have been returned by foreign countries, sponsors and Thomas Cook, the official package provider. The Telegraph says: ‘Far from being the ‘sell-out’ promoted more than a year ago, LOCOG still has 50,000 non football Olympic tickets remaining, as well as around one million football tickets and one million Paralympic tickets still to shift as well as the new batch.’It added: ‘One source familiar with the ticketing system said LOCOG was now buying back most of the remaining tickets except for football and some preliminary tickets to events in large venues such as volleyball and boxing.’The Telegraph also reports that coaches carry members of the US and Australian teams got lost after leaving Heathrow yesterday, on their way to the Olympic Village. And the Met Office has said the bad weather ‘may improve’ for the Games.Meanwhile, TravelClick says hotel prices across London have soared to an average £189 over the Olympics period – currently close to a 70% increase in average daily rate (ADR) in comparison to the same time period last year.
