Rolls Royce unveils its "flying taxi”

The British Rolls-Royce group presented its prototype hybrid "flying taxi" in London. It could take to the skies in the 2020s.

Rolls-Royce, the British industrial group, has presented its project to develop a hybrid electric vehicle with a vertical take-off and landing. It works with a traditional gas turbine supplemented by an electric system.

This flying taxi can accommodate 4 or 5 passengers and fly at a maximum speed of 322 km/h and a maximum distance of 805 km.

"We'll see a similar product fly in three to five years, and we'll demonstrate this system in two years," said Rob Watson, electrical manager at Rolls-Royce.

At the same time, Rolls-Royce is studying an all-electric product that is not as advanced as this hybrid "flying taxi".
