Eurostar

The cross Channel high-speed rail service announces its direct service from London to Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Eurostar presents its new route: London-Rotterdam in 3h01 and London-Amsterdam in 3h41. A direct return route is expected to open by the end of 2019 pending the availability of passport checks from Amsterdam.

The launch of the route is planned on 4 April 2018 and tickets from £35 one-way will be on sale from 20 February, date of the inaugural service.

The company saw an opportunity to create a line to the Netherlands by train: 4 million passengers travel by air between London and Amsterdam, the same market size as the London to Paris market when Eurostar launched its service in 1994.

For Nicolas Petrovic, Chief Executive, Eurostar, this new service represents “an exciting advance in cross-Channel travel and heralds a new era in international high-speed rail. With direct services from the UK to the Netherlands, France and Belgium, we are transforming the links between the UK and three of Europe’s top trading nations”.
