According to the European Commission, rail traffic grew by 3% a year between 2015 and 2019. This trend is reflected in the number of Europeans travelling by train every year, a figure that stands at around 7.8 billion passengers according to Eurostat. At a time when sustainable tourism is gaining ground, using the train as a mode of transport is becoming increasingly natural. In an effort to achieve mass adoption, the rail industry has a duty to take action to open up more and more regions, so that everyone can choose to travel by train rather than by car or plane.
