With its new "Sleep 'n Fly" concept, Dubai airport provides resting capsules for passengers wishing to spend the waiting hours between their flights in the arms of Morphée. A kind of micro-hotel?
This is not a hotel, but an airport lounge with 20 "igloos", meaning capsules containing a seat that converts into a bed as well as a luggage storage compartment, a charger, a desk and a night light.
There are also seven cabins for couples and families in transit, equipped with a double bed (140x200 cm), reading lights, night tables and a folding table, as well as a mirror and spaces for storing luggage and clothing. A child's bed (115x55 cm) is also available in each cabin.
However, no other facilities are provided (toilets, restaurants, etc.) to further enhance passenger comfort, as most of these services are available elsewhere in the airport.
Will the "micro-hotel" concept soon conquer major international airports? Other companies have already carried out similar experiments in London, Amsterdam, New Delhi or Atlanta. It remains to be seen whether it will soon become a standard of airport service, to the great displeasure of hotels there, which won’t sleep on both ears anymore.
