While the slow tourism and sustainable tourism trends are contributing to its growing popularity, the health crisis has also played into its hands. Many people have just left the isolation of their homes and acquired bicycles and electric bikes to make the most of their freedom. Whether it's simply a recreational activity on holiday or a full-time means of transport, cycling has won over more than 40 million French people. Furthermore, France is the world's second most popular destination for cycle tourism, after Germany, with over 9 million cycling holidays a year. Aware of our country's potential, the government intends to make France the world's leading destination for cycle tourism by 2030.
