HyperloopTT starts working on the first Chinese Hyperloop.
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies continues to gain ground. After having interested notably the United Arab Emirates, France, the United States or Ukraine, the company opens a Chinese entity and launches the project for a first Chinese Hyperloop.
A first agreement signed with the Chinese group Tongren Transportation & Tourism Investment concerns a 10 km commercial line in Tongren in the province of Guizhou.
"We believe Hyperloop will play a major role in the Silk Road economic belt linking the region to the rest of the world," said Dirk Ahlborn, CEO of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies. Tongren Mayor Chen Shaorong highlighted "an important project to expand and strengthen the local economy".
HyperloopTT will provide technology, engineering and equipment while Tongren will provide certification, regulatory framework and system construction. The authorities in Tongren and HyperloopTT will work hand in hand to define the route.
This is the 12th development project led by the company and the 3rd for a commercial line after those signed with Abu Dhabi and Ukraine this year.
