Staycity Group has announced the acquisition of a 74.9% stake in the Felix Group, owned by Munich-based Denkmalneu. This partnership will enable Staycity to operate three aparthotels in key cities: Leipzig and Dresden in Germany, as well as Vienna in Austria.
The Leipzig and Dresden properties, totaling 388 rooms, will be rebranded as Staycity Aparthotels. Additionally, the 130-apartment building currently under construction in Vienna will open under Staycity’s lifestyle brand, Wilde, in the second quarter of 2025. Denkmalneu will retain a stake in these properties.
“We are delighted to place our hotels in the hands of a strong partner and look forward to a long-term partnership and an ambitious growth strategy. The synergies between DMN as a project developer and Staycity as an experienced operator form a strong foundation for a successful joint venture.” - Thomas Scherer, CEO and founder of DMN
This acquisition is part of Staycity’s ongoing European development strategy. The company currently operates 5,800 rooms across 35 aparthotels in several European countries, including France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and the UK. The group plans to expand its portfolio to 10,000 rooms, with a goal of reaching 20,000 apartments by 2032.
Staycity’s expansion plans continue beyond these acquisitions. In 2025, the company will open new properties in Amsterdam, Cambridge, and another location in London. It will also enter the Portuguese market for the first time, with openings in Lisbon and Porto under the Wilde brand.
“As we near the end of 2024 I’m delighted that Staycity remains in a strong financial position, with high levels of liquidity and no net leverage. This enables us to continue seeking well-located aparthotel opportunities across Europe, with the DACH region of Germany, Austria and Switzerland being very much part of our strategic growth.” - Tom Walsh, Staycity Group CEO
Staycity Group is a privately held company, with 13% of shares owned by the Irish Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF). The group is forecast to generate €300 million in revenue for the coming year.
