Paris-based HomeExchange has just announced the acquisition of French competitor My weekend for you, allowing HomeExchange to continue its strong expansion.
Just weeks after buying British company Love Home Swap from Travel + Leisure Co, HomeExchange buys another company but this time French. Indeed, My weekend for you was founded in 2017 in southeast France.
The network of My weekend for you features 1,200 hosts welcoming travelers to their homes for free over a weekend to discover a particular region. The site claims to have over 20,000 members across 21 countries.
The service of this company was created for those hosting. And for travelers to be able to contact other members and have their profiles verified, they must pay a fee.
We are proud and eager to welcome My weekend for you members to the HomeExchange community. The objective is to offer them the possibility of discovering new horizons, thanks to our large network of more than 110,000 members that are present in over 130 countries.
Charles-Edouard Girard, co-founder of HomeExchange
This merger is an opportunity for our members to benefit from privileged access to the HomeExchange platform. This allows us to extend this beautiful spirit of sharing that unites our members with a solid community and at the same time, a great French entrepreneurial success.
Benoit Fahy, co-founder and CEO of My weekend for you
In fact, HomeExchange was born from an acquisition as its CEO Emmanuel Arnaud and President Charles-Edouard Girard founded GuesttoGuest, a Paris-based vacation exchange platform, in 2011. Six years after, they acquired Cambridge,Massachusetts-based HomeExchange, the combined entity then came to be called HomeExchange.
