Barceló Roma

Barceló Hotel Group is continuing its expansion in Europe with the acquisition of the Midas Hotel in Rome for €60 million. Barceló's objective is to reposition the hotel after an in-depth renovation in order to make it a first-rate venue for events and congresses in Rome.

Positioned on the Via Aurelia, this 350-room, four-star hotel is a recognised player in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment in Rome. After completion of the works, it will be marketed under the Barceló brand.

The new hotel, known as Midas, boasts a convention centre with 17 meeting rooms for up to 1,300 people. It also boasts extensive gardens with swimming pools and a varied selection of restaurants.

The hotel group officially took possession of the hotel last Thursday, following the purchase from the Alpine Capital fund. The acquisition is part of Barceló's strategy to expand its presence in Europe, where it currently operates 16 properties in 10 countries, including Germany, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Poland, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

This acquisition, followed by recent openings in Warsaw and Slovenia, strengthens Barceló's position on the European continent. The company opened its first hotel in Prague in 1993 and continues to invest in strategic markets to increase its portfolio and competitiveness.
