Nobu Barcelona is sold to the funds manager ASG, one of the largest assets of the Selenta Group, which opens in September 2019. The transaction, signed on Thursday, December 31, 2020, closed for €80 million.
Nobu Barcelona was managed by Selenta Group, a chain owned by Jordi Mestre - who is also president of Gremi d'Hotels de Barcelona and the international company Nobu Hospitality.
With this operation, Selenta Group is getting rid of one of its main hotel assets, in a year in which the pandemic has fully affected the tourism and hotel sector, especially in cities such as Barcelona, where hotels have recorded 95%. less revenue and customers.
According to the information provided by Gremi d'Hotels de Barcelona.
The hotel, located near Barcelona's Sants Station, has 259 rooms and suites spread over a total of 23 floors, a Spa and gym, a Nobu restaurant, as well as spaces for meetings and corporate events. It is the third largest hotel in Spain and the fourth largest in Europe, of the chain.
For its part, ASG, which manages various real estate funds, is strengthening its presence in Spain and Barcelona with this acquisition. In November 2019, the fund’s manager has announced its desire to expand in the Spanish and Portuguese markets, with a starting value of 20 million euros.
It also clarifies its focus on investments in 3, 4, and 5-star hotels with more than 100 rooms, with the flexibility to redevelop and change brands.
ASG has completed more than 33 acquisitions in Spain and Portugal in the residential and hotel sectors, worth approximately 1 billion euros, including the Hard Rock Atocha Madrid, Hampton by Hilton Fira Barcelona, and Forum Barcelona hotels.
