Accor and LVMH have chosen to work together on the Orient Express brand. 141 years after the inaugural journey of the train across Europe, the two French groups are joining forces to enhance the Orient Express experience by drawing on the expertise of the LVMH houses and contributing to the brand's development and deployment budget.
A third partner remains to be found to complete the round of financing associated with the Accor group's ambitions for the Orient Express brand. While LVMH is investing in the brand and in the group that owns the two future yachts, the budget has yet to be completed.
Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of the Accor Group:
"Since its creation 140 years ago, Orient Express has been a legend, drawing on its roots and its dream world to always look to the future. With it, Accor reinvents the art of travel, discovery and great epics. Today, with LVMH, Orient Express is opening a new chapter in this wonderful adventure, with the ambition of exploring new horizons and embodying the boldness and creative passion that drive us. We are delighted that LVMH can contribute its exceptional expertise to continue to push back the frontiers of this legendary Maison and bring its incarnation to life in an even more singular way".
The sails of the first Orient Express, currently under construction at the Atlantic shipyards, will be inflated by the wind in 2026, while two hotels are being transformed in Venice and Rome.
LVMH, for its part, has deployed a hospitality division and operates its Cheval Blanc brand. It is therefore a partner already familiar with the constraints associated with hospitality that is joining Accor.
Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of the LVMH Group:
"Orient Express has embodied adventure and elegance since its origins. Its name has become part of our cultural heritage and a source of inspiration for the greatest artists. Orient Express symbolises the art of living of the times and the audacity that drives our companies. We are delighted to be associated with Accor to accelerate the renewal of this emblem of travel. Each one of our groups will bring the best of its know-how to take Orient Express to the top of the art of receiving".
A duo that makes sense to give back life to a brand surrounded by a mythical and a history that has crossed History. Artisanal craftsmanship, highly present at LVMH, is also a very strong component of Orient Express, which Accor intends to keep alive.
