The special relationship between the art community and hospitality industry is getting closer.
Beyond temporary exhibits in the lobby or a conference room, some hotels are erasing the frontier between the exhibit and the hotel. Some chains might resort to the art world to broaden their image and include a demographic that is not part of their regular customers. For example, Maritm consecrated one of its hotels in Berlin to the art world in order to reach outside its normal business clientele. Two notable case studies are Gallery Hotel Art (owned by the Ferragamo family) in Florence and the Bohem Art Hotel in Budapest. These two establishments share the same theme and provide art exhibits in their public areas (The Bohem puts a little more emphasis on the fact that their rooms are also decorated with artwork.)Some chains might resort to the art world to broaden their image and include a demographic that is not part of their regular customers.
