The Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid reopens in 2021

The Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid Hotel, which closed in February 2018, will reopen in the beginning of 2021 after a total renovation at a cost of 99 million euros.

The Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid Hotel has 153 rooms including 53 suites, decorated by French designers Gilles and Boissier.

Greg Liddell, who is in charge of Mandarin Oriental Barcelona and Mandarin Oriental Canouan in the Grenadine Islands , has been appointed General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid Hotel and said :

We are excited to re-open our doors to Madrid and the world, and we look forward to welcoming our guests to this beautiful historic hotel, which is on the verge of claiming its place among the most emblematic in Europe.

The hotel was purchased from Belmond Spanish Holdigns (the former Orient-Express) and Landis Inversiones (Alicia Koplowitz's investment company) through a risk-sharing company in which Mandarin Oriental International and Olayan each hold 50% of the acquisition for $148 million.

The renovation of the hotel was announced after its purchase in 2016, it has been closed since February 2018, and the largest renovation in its 110-year history amounted to 99 million euros.
