Of the 850 establishments in Mallorca registered to FEHM, 230 are still open in September, even if the demand has decreased due to recommendations and quarantines imposed by Germany and the United Kingdom, the main issuing markets to the island.
28% of the hotel industry in Mallorca is still open, according to the executive vice-president of the Hotel Industry Federation of Mallorca (FEHM), María José Aguiló.
These hotels stay open waiting for "any opportunity" that may come up in the next weeks, like the secure corridors that the Balearic Government is already negotiating with the United Kingdom for when the incidence level of Covid-19 in the Balearic Islands decreases.
The Executive vice-president of the FEHM María José Aguiló said:
The activity with the situation we have has been declining, but there is still a critical mass that keeps the establishments open to take advantage of any opportunity that will appear in the coming weeks.
The areas with the most open hotels are Palma, Playa de Palma, Cala d`Or, Pollença and Playa de Muro. Aguiló commented, emphasizing the good performance with opening figures above 50%.
It would be very useful and very welcome and I wish it could be followed by the opening of a corridor with Germany, which is a very important market for us in these low season months.
