In 2013, the British capital beat its record for international arrivals, hosting some 16.8 million foreign visitors.
The success of the Olympic Games in 2012 and the Queen's Jubilee contributed to the 9% increase in international arrivals in the city with respect to last year. Close to 16.8 million tourists traveled to the destination, according to figures published by The Office for National Statistic's International Passenger Survey. They spent some 13.6 billion euros, or 12% more than in 2012.
In addition to its capital, the whole of Great Britain posts good results in terms of tourist occupancy. The country welcomed some 33 million visitors, or 6% more than in 2012. Tourism spending also rose by 13%, to 25 billion euros.
The country should continue along this trajectory in 2014, and is already posting promising first results. The number of foreign tourists in the first months of the year is up by 9%.
