Short-term rental accommodation is more popular than ever, but not everyone is in favour of it. Finger-pointed by hoteliers and decried by many tourist destinations, their unlimited growth is not viewed favourably. Faced with intensive development at both national and international level, governments are taking action. Shorter rental periods, restrictions on development in certain areas and even higher taxes on second homes are just some of the solutions being adopted to control the growth of this market as effectively as possible.
