80% of ads from Airbnb owners do not respect registration regulations.
Since December 1, 2017, Airbnb's ordinance requires those renting furnished tourist accommodations to acquire a registration number from City Hall, and this number must appear on the advertisement. This procedure makes it possible to verify that Airbnb owners respect the maximum legal amount of rental of 120 days per annum.
According to a survey carried out by Le Figaro, out of 54,000 advertisements studied, 45,000 of them, or 80% advertisements for places in Paris do not respect recommendations from City Hall. City Hall's defense specifies that the ordinance is recent and that sanctions have not yet been made public.
Rather than make registration obligatory, the American company would prefer to establish a nights counter and block registration when 120 days of rental have been met.
