Director, Global Sales Iberia/France – Group/MICE & Transient M/F

Summary:

The Director, Global Sales Iberia/France – Group/MICE & Transient, will represent hotels in the Wyndham Hotel Group (WHG) portfolio of brands to the Group/Meetings, Incentive, Conference & Events (MICE) plus Transient segments throughout Iberia (Spain & Portugal) and for Group/MICE clients only in France. 

They will have a revenue generation responsibility to drive in excess of $2m (USD) in tracked revenue during their first 12 months (following a 2 month onboarding induction and ‘ramp up).’ They will drive tracked revenue and room night contribution proactively to our WHG franchised and managed hotels across all brands & around the globe. They will implement strategies and tactics for the Group/MICE & Transient segments that increase WHG market share, from both direct (end user) clients and third party agents. They will increase client lead solicitations & conversion ratios and work in tandem with solicited hotels to respond professionally & expediently to leads received through our proprietary Global Opportunity Leads (GO Leads) and Lanyon (RFP) systems.

This position calls for a revenue focused, creative & consultative sales professional who will act in partnership with clients to increase revenue opportunity and move market share.  They will undertake customer facing activities including but not limited to structured business reviews with clients and prospects at all levels. Measurement will be based on tracked booked revenues; however lead solicitations, conversion ratio’s and other appropriate matrix will be used. This position reports to the Vice President EMEA Sales and involves frequent travel throughout the Iberian peninsula, France the wider EMEA region and beyond as required by both the clients and the business.

Missions:

The Director, Global Sales Iberia/France – Group/MICE & Transient will drive significant revenue opportunities into the WHG portfolio of brands and hotels. They will work and negotiate directly with all clients for the best potential agreement, prior to offering this to the hotels for their consideration & participation. They will manage both ‘end user’ clients as well as a portfolio of ‘third party agents’ throughout the Iberia Peninsula & France. They will where required, manage their clients’ needs throughout the wider EMEA region and from potentially offices outside of Iberia/France. The Director, Global Sales Iberia – Group/MICE & Transient will be home based. They will take responsibility for new and existing accounts making independent business decisions that will assist them in the achievement of their goals and targets. They will also be required to assist colleagues with the development of their accounts where appropriate and such assistance required.

Although this position does not manage a cost centre, it is the responsibility of the Director, Global Sales Iberia/France – Group/MICE & Transient to manage their expenses accordingly. All Directors must review costs of sale and ROI for all business trips; marketing opportunities and overall spend in their region. The Director is responsible for submitting a Travel and Entertainment Expense Report monthly.

Experience:

  • College/University Degree or experience equivalent
  • Significant experience in hotel sales specific to markets covering Spain, France and Portugal (property, national sales or global sales)
  • Previous experience in working in the MICE/Groups segment within a branded hotel environment
  • Full European Driving License is required
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is essential.  The ability to do business is French is also desirable
  •  Previous experience of working in an account management environment and ideally with GO Leads, Lanyon & SalesForce.com systems or similar
  • Previous experience in preparing and delivering high quality presentations using Powerpoint or Prezi
