Director of Finance and Business Support - Hotel Indigo Palau

We’re looking for a new Director of Finance and Accounting comfortable with balancing the books when it comes to managing the needs of owners, auditors and regulatory agencies while also monitoring and improving hotel profitability. You will be a critical driver of our financial strategy and decision-making process. Your expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and risk assessment will be pivotal in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our hotel. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead a small but dedicated finance team while collaborating closely with executive leadership and our offshore stakeholders to shape and execute financial strategies that align with our business objectives and drive long-term success.  

Key Responsibilities:  

Financial Strategy and Planning:  

  • Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies that support the hotel's growth objectives, optimize capital allocation, and enhance hotel value for owners.  
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to provide insights and recommendations for effective financial planning and risk management.  
  • Analyze market trends, industry benchmarks, and economic indicators to inform strategic decisions.  

Budgeting and Forecasting:  

  • In conjunction with the GM, lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial targets and allocate resources effectively.  
  • Create accurate financial forecasts that provide visibility into revenue projections, expense management, and cash flow.  

 Financial Reporting and Analysis:  

  • Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and dashboards for executive review.  
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.  
  • Provide actionable insights to support informed decision-making across the organization.  

Risk Management and Compliance:  

  • Implement robust internal controls and compliance processes to mitigate financial risks and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.  
  • Stay updated on accounting standards and industry regulations, adjusting financial strategies and practices accordingly.  

Team Leadership and Development:  

  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.  
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and development opportunities to team members, enhancing their financial expertise and leadership skills.  

Strategic Partnerships:  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, sales, and marketing to align financial strategies with business objectives.  
  • Partner with external auditors, legal advisors, and consultants to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.  

What we need from you:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's or CPA preferred).  
  • Proven track record of 8+ years in finance leadership roles, with a strong background in financial planning, analysis, and strategy.  
  • Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and risk assessment.  
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards.  
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to translate financial insights into actionable business strategies.  
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to drive results and lead change.
