Pricing Strategy Analyst (F/M)

The role…

  • Choice Hotels is seeking a Pricing Strategy Analyst to support the strategy, analysis, development, and adoption of SmartRates, our industry leading demand forecasting and pricing optimization tool. The analyst will oversee and market SmartRates, which serves over 5,000 Choice hotels. Through collaboration with marketing and distribution, IT team, and third-party vendors, you will analyze customer behavior, monitor product performance, and work cross-functionally across the organization to identify opportunities and develop enhancements to improve usability and product performance for our revenue managers and franchisees. Your energy, ideas, and analytical insights will be crucial to shaping the future of Choice Revenue Management.


What you will do…

  • Actively monitors system rate recommendations for trends and outliers at a global and property-specific level
  • Collaborate with IT and third-party vendors to develop processes and reporting to monitor data quality for SmartRates
  • Perform in-depth analysis of pricing optimization systems and revenue management programs as they benefit our franchisees
  • Identify, address, and resolve data anomalies while communicating impact to appropriate stakeholders
  • Train users on the tool including optimal configuration, usage, and best practices to achieve optimal results
  • Ensure day to day data integrity and provide data support and analysis for SmartRates business, IT, and vendor teams
  • Research market trends and competitor data to identify opportunities to calibrate the application
  • Develop mechanisms to track and improve franchisee engagement with SmartRates
  • Partner with customers and hotel touchpoints including Revenue Managers, Area Directors, and franchisees to drive usage
  • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to perform assessments of revenue performance driven by tool usage to identify areas of additional revenue opportunity
  • Analyze and measure the success of the tool as it pertains to revenue uplift
  • Engage with hotels and Area Directors to understand system usage; leverage findings to drive increased engagement and adoption of SmartRates recommendations
  • Communicate findings to leadership; develop recommendations to improve system, processes, and tools to drive better revenue outcomes for hotels using SmartRates
  • Train and mentor incoming business and data analysts


Skills you have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Hotel Management or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Experience with using statistical and data analysis to guide decision-making
  • Familiarity with microeconomics, statistics, and pricing principles and concepts; understanding of demand forecasting and/or revenue management a plus
  • Understanding of hospitality industry standard metrics and related reports; understanding of revenue management tools and reports, and property management systems and reports a plus
  • Basic knowledge of hotel industry channel and distribution concepts including Online Travel Agencies, Global Distribution Systems, and hotel direct
  • Experience with franchising businesses in a global environment a plus
  • Strong communication, consultative, and presentation skills required; comfortable in interacting with and presenting to senior management
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, budgeting (time & cost), scheduling, tracking, status reporting, and driving/managing execution across multiple teams and disciplines
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Familiarity with SQL; having taken a class in data science and/or course using SAS, Python, or R as plus
  • Knowledge of SAS programming language and SAS software applications is a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and creative problem solving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to apply high level critical thinking skills to understand and solve complex problems having multiple complex variables, and to work across departments and disciplines to design solutions
  • Ability to prioritize objectives, identify trade-offs, identify resource needs, and develop and communicate business cases and implementation plans
  • Ability to manage multiple high priority projects
