Novotel Manchester West - General Manager - M/F

The Novotel Manchester West has recently been acquired by The Fairview Hotels group. This 119 Bedroom property joins five other Novotel properties, two Mercure Hotels and an Ibis in the companies ever expanding portfolio. We are currently seeking a New General Manager to join the team and exploit the potential of this fantastic property.

Your missions :

Your role will be to oversee the entire operation at Novotel Manchester West whilst ensuring that the highest standard of service and customer care is provided to all our customers. Liaise with the Group HR Manager on all personnel and training matters. To ensure at all times, that costs are controlled in line with the budget.
Duties include/Key areas of responsibilities:

  • To be totally responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operations of the hotel.
  • In conjunction with the sales team, to increase the marketing of all facilities at the hotel.
  • In liaison with the HR department, to ensure that all staff are trained in all aspects of their job as well as statutory matters.
  • To ensure that department managers provide hands-on approach supervision.
  • To ensure that risk assessments are carried out and records kept accordingly.
  • To ensure that you are available during the stock-take done by our external stock-taker and to ensure that if there are any shortfalls, necessary investigation is carried and appropriate action taken.
  • To consult and confer with the appropriate personnel regarding the changing or replacing of equipment, fixtures and procedures throughout the hotel.
  • In liaison with the HR department, to interview applicants for line management and supervisory roles. 
  • To compile duty rosters for Duty Management in accordance with forecasted levels of business. 
  • To ensure, encourage and promote communication links amongst all managers and staff.
  • To hold regular meetings with line manager.
  • Complete all required health and safety/fire checks on time and be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down under the Health & Safety Act.
  • Be responsible for evacuation, in cases of emergency, acting as first point of contact for the team, guests and the emergency services.
  • Be accountable for all relevant product delivery and stock management (mainly, laundry, cleaning materials and bedroom supplies), including setting stock levels, checking, counting, storage, reconciliation and loss investigation
  • To ensure any accidents to staff guests or visitors are reported in accordance with the correct procedures.
  • To attend company training if required to.
  • To action any other reasonable requests made by management.
