The London EDITION - Marriott

The partnership between the American entrepreneur Ian Schrager and Marriott International is given a boost with the signing of two Edition properties to open in Tokyo by 2020.

The American entrepreneur Ian Schrager, whom some consider a founder of the boutique hotel concept, has once again energized his partnership with Marriott International with the signing of two Edition properties - a brand conceived with Ian Schrager - in Tokyo, Japan.

The Tokyo Edition Ginza will be 13-storeys high and have 80 rooms near Chuo Street, Ginza district. Construction is expected to begin in May 2018, and for the property to open its doors by March, 2020.

The Tokyo Edition Toranomon will feature 200 rooms, as part of the reconversion of the former Pastoral Building located in Tokyo's Toranomon district, which will also house offices, residences and a medical center. Works on this property have already begun and the hotel should open its doors in 2020 as well.

Both properties will be operated by Mori Trust Co., the main Marriott franchisee in Japan. "Tokyo serves as the perfect setting for the Edition brand, presenting the best of the world’s cultural and social milieu for travellers who seek exceptional places and experiences," concludes Anthony Capuano, Executive Vice President & Global CDO, Marriott International.
