B&B Hotels buys the group Sidorme

The French hotel chain B&B Hotels announces it bought the Spanish group Sidorme, thereby gaining 1,300 rooms. Discover the composition of this Spanish portfolio.

B&B Hotels is accellerating development in Spain with the takeover of the Spanish group Sidorme. This French economy hotel chain thus grew by fifteen properties, or more than 1,300 rooms in Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona and Grenada; these units are positioned on the same me segment. With this operation, B&B Hotels confirms its development in Europe's economy range.

The hotel chain from Brest already had four properties in Spain since 2015; these units were previously  operated under the Holiday Inn Express brand in the cities of Girona, Madrid, Valencia and Alicante. Last March, B&B Hotels was bought by the investment fund PAI Partners, which had already affirmed its intention to increase investments in order to ensure the group's growth and to pursue the operator's rate of openings in France and abroad. 

On this occasion, Georges Sampeur, Chairman of the Board of Directors at B&B Hotels declared: "After our recent implantation in Switzerland and Brazil, the acquisition of the independent Spanish group SIDORME, positioned on the same market segment as B&B Hôtels, will allow us to significantly strengthen our presence in Spain, with a total of 19 hotels on the territory. This takeover is part of our ongoing international development and our ambition to become, in the long term, an indisputable leader on the economy hotel segment." The portfolio of B&B Hotels consists of 252 hotels in France, 85 units in Germany, 23 properties in Italy, 5 hotels in Morocco and one in the Czech Republic. The group also has properties under development in Switzerland (142 rooms) and Brazil. As of January 1st, 2016, B&B Hôtels was 11th in the ranking of hotel brands in Europe, with 355 properties, and for a total capacity of 30,017 rooms, qaccording to data published by Hospitality ON.
