Accor announced its 35% equity acquisition of Mama Shelter, and its target to develop the brand's global reach.
With 35% of the capital in Mama Shelter, Accor opens its development and distribution network to the Trigano family's brand. The two parties realized the operation with a goal to develop the Mama Shelter model internationally by opening twenty or so new properties over the next five years. The amount of the transaction has not been revealed. Created by Serge Trigano, the lifestyle and design chain currently has a network of five properties in Paris, Marseille, Istanbul, Lyon and Bordeaux. An additional hotel should also open in Los Angeles in February 2015 and the group is working on projects in Lille, a second property in Paris and other projects in Zurich, Mexico, Seoul, Amsterdam, Barcelona, New York and London.
